Frequently Asked Questions

are wares food, dishwasher, and microwave safe?

Great question! All pieces from Scamp Fire Studio that are functional for eating or drinking purposes, ie: mugs, bowls, plates, etc, are food safe. I am careful to select and use safe and appropriate glazes that will come in contact with your food and your mouth.

Almost all pieces will be dishwasher and microwave safe. Please note the description of your exact treasure to know if it does or does not fall into these categories. With that being said, I do recommend hand-washing your treasures to ensure the life and vibrancy of the particular glaze/s on your beautiful treasures.

what type of clay do you make your pottery with?

I use a beautiful white porcelain clay for a significant amount of my work. I occasionally use a white stoneware for sculptural or decorative pieces for added stability during the throwing process.

What makes your ceramics different from mass-produced pottery?

Every piece from Scamp Fire Studio is made by hand - designed, carved, and glazed with intention. Unlike mass-produced pottery, which is often molded and replicated by machines, my work carries the subtle marks of my hand: the slight variation in form, the layered textures, the glaze that pools unpredictably in carved lines - they’re the soul of the piece.

I use both wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques across my creations with wheel-thrown being the majority of my work. Each item is part of a very small batch or completely one-of-a-kind. My goal isn’t just to make pottery - it’s to make treasures that feel lived-in, loved, and part of your story.

Do your collections follow a seasonal or thematic release schedule?

While I love working with themes and envisioning seasonal collections, my current releases are more intuitive and paced by what’s possible in the studio. I’ve been navigating a chronic illness relapse this year, which means I’m creating in smaller batches and releasing work when it feels ready - rather than on a fixed schedule.

With that said, I’m always dreaming up future releases shaped by my inspirations and intuition, emotional textures, and natural rhythms. If you’d like to follow along as new pieces emerge, my newsletter and Instagram are the best places to catch previews and studio updates. You can subscribe at the bottom of this page.

do you take custom orders or commissions?

I’m open to commissions, but with a gentle caveat: I don’t work well within strict parameters. My creative process thrives on freedom and intuition, and overly specific requests tend to take the joy out of making.

That said, If you have a general idea - like a mood, a color palette, or a type of piece you’d love - I’m happy to explore it and create something special just for you. Think of it as a collaboration rooted in trust and surprise. If that sounds like your kind of magic, feel free to reach out to and we can discuss your ideas.

How often do you restock or release new pieces?

My goal is to release new work about once per quarter, but the timing can shift depending on my chronic illness. Each piece is handmade with care, and I prioritize quality and joy in the making process over strict schedules.

I do hope to offer more frequent releases in the future, but for now, restocks happen when the studio and I are ready. The best way to stay updated is through my newsletter or Instagram, where I will share previews, studio notes, and release announcements.

Your patience and support mean the world to me. Knowing that my work resonates with people who value intention and artistry helps keep the fire lit, even on slower days.

do you offer workshops or studio visits?

Not at this time. I work out of my small home studio, which isn’t currently set up to host visitors or workshops. While I love connecting with others through my work, the space just isn’t suitable for in-person experiences right now.

If that ever changes, I’ll be sure to share updates through my newsletter and social channels.

are there any shops where i can find your work in person?

Not at the moment. My work is currently available exclusively online through my shop. However, I may participate in markets or pop-up events down the line. I am also open to placing pieces in select shops or galleries in the future as the right opportunities arise.

If you know of a space that feels aligned with my work and values, or are a shop owner interested in stocking Scamp Fire Studio pieces, I’d love to hear about it - community connections often lead to beautiful things!
